The Pickle Maker, is responsible for monitoring and documenting critical food safety and quality tests. The Pickle Maker, is responsible for monitoring and documenting critical food safety and quality tests. This role ensures work is completed in a safe manner and within the quality parameters established. This position requires critical thinking, problem solving and leadership responsibilities.
- Manages pickling schedule and timeframe parameters
- Prepares pickle to the current day.
- Performs PH, vinegar, salt and pickle waste treating
- Responsible for prevention of waste of material and accuracy of Ingredients and accurate records of all ingredients used.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead
- Prepares all dry ingredients for the next day’s production in Pump
- Prepares pickle for the next day.
- Conducts Pickle Room inventory and green meat inventory
- Cleans Pickle Room including chillers and any empty tanks each day.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Knowledge and experience in Meat Industry is preferred, but not required.
- Competent and trustworthy to comply with federal inspection programs and company safety and health policies.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Be available to work scheduled hours, which includes mandatory overtime, depending upon production demands and able to work 6-7 days a week including weekends.
- Be able to pay close attention to detail.
- Be able to use motorized power truck or forklift.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must be able to communicate and work with other shifts to ensure tasks are completed within the appropriate timeframes.
- Be able to understand and follow oral and written instruction from supervisors and designated staff
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Basic Computer skills

- Working in cold environments of 20° to 45° F
- Working in hot environments exceeding 100° F
- Frequent contact with animal fats
- Carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling of heavy and or awkward objects or loads.
- Lifting and lowering objects up to 100 lbs.- a mechanical lift is available
- Walking long distances, sometimes on wet, uneven and slippery surfaces
- Using and maintaining a variety of knives, hand tools, powered tools, equipment, electrical devices, controls and powered industrial trucks
- Continuous walking short distances from point A to point B (up to 2-3 hours before break)
- Working at fixed workstation locations which are conveyor line paced.
- Climbing or moving ladders, steps, stairwells and platforms
- Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers.
- Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching, pulling, lifting, extending, flexing the hands and arms.
- A variety of arm and hand movements are required in applying force, movement and repetition
