Job Summary

The AMD (Additive Manufacturing Department) technician assists engineers with component designs, set up printers and associated equipment, including post-processing equipment, and monitors production scheduling and product quality. Communicates and coordinates with the CNC manager to ensure cost-efficient operations. Actively pursues continuous improvement initiatives. Performs general maintenance of machinery and auxiliary equipment. Inspects printed products as needed. The position performs a vital part in enhancing the Company’s infrastructure and has the capability to contribute to the strength and sustainable growth of Blue-White Industries.

Essential Job Functions

· Setup, load programs, review/edit build files and operate additive manufacturing machines.

· Operate supporting equipment and hardware in the additive manufacturing process to meet desired specifications and finish.

· Maintain additive manufacturing equipment and supporting equipment (including powders, hand tooling, build plates, filters, etc.) to meet quality and safety standards.

· Meet production standards and quality expectations.

· Train other personnel on additive manufacturing equipment.

· Troubleshoot and recommend adjustments to additive manufacturing programs and processes when necessary.

· Build tooling when necessary.

· Set up and conduct inspections to ensure products meet quality standards.

· Follow and adhere to written instructions (i.e., Work Instructions).

· Document results and traceability information accurately.

· Understand and follow all departmental procedures (SOP’s). Document and report any process deviations to the team leader.

· Stay current on additive manufacturing trends and industry information.

· Perform machine cleaning and other housekeeping practices to maintain a safe work environment.

· Understand and comply with all department safety policies and procedures.

· Exhibit Blue-White core values and comply with all company policies.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Minimum Experience/Training/Education

  • At least 1 year of experience as an additive manufacturing operator

· Prior experience with loading, reviewing, and editing build files designed for the additive manufacturing equipment runs.

· Advanced Manufacturing or machine repair/maintenance certifications or degrees preferred.

· Excellent technical aptitude, flexible schedule and record keeping skills.

· Ability to understand additive manufacturing build programs and machine diagnostics.

· Ability to edit programs with Technical Service Engineer or Manufacturing Engineering Assistance.

· Working knowledge of additive manufacturing equipment.

Preferred Additional Experience/Training/Education

· 1+ years of experience as an additive manufacturing operator

· At least 1 years of experience with HP MJF 3D printers

· Working knowledge of IQMS ERP system.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

· Knowledge of inspection procedures & use of inspection equipment.

· Understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.

· Understanding of metallurgical principles.

· Professional written and verbal communication skills.

· Good software skills including programming-type skills.

Work Environment: Employee works in an air-conditioned Manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels from the air and electrically-operated machinery and equipment, and some variation in temperature due to external weather conditions.

Special Requirements

May be required to work weekends as business necessitates; schedules will be determined by the department supervisor/management with at least 48 hours in advance notice.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.63 - $27.50 per hour
