Autism Works Program Coordinator II Job at A New Leaf, Inc.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the delivery of the Autism Works program and quality services to students served by A New Leaf Autism Works program within upper elementary, middle and high schools in Tulsa and surrounding areas. Facilitates groups/classes of students with autism or similar barriers, teaching prevocational skills, including communication, social skills and self-regulation - during and after school hours. Within the Autism Works program, responsible for developing, monitoring, and coordinating services for students served. Completes all documentation on individuals as it pertains to the program. May provide direct care services as needed. Schedule promotional events and awareness programs as required and continue to expand and grow the program as appropriate through continued collaboration with schools. Coordinate summer activities and/or summer camp for students in the Autism Works program. Supervise Program Coordinator I staff member on the Autism Works team.
Essential Functions:
- Physical capacities must include bending, stooping, and lifting a minimum of 30 pounds.
- Work flexible schedule based on schedules of persons served by and needs of A New Leaf and the Autism Works program.
- Follow policy and procedures of A New Leaf.
- Ensures all students served are always safe in their program environment/participation.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and complete documentation and reports required by A New Leaf, schools, and funding sources.
- Fulfills all training, in-service, and background check requirements necessary to work with individuals served.
- ObtainEmployment Specialist/Program Coordinator certification within six months of employment.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Management responsibilities of Program Coordinator I staff and social work practicum intern students assigned to the Autism Works program.
- Coordinates and completes all preparation of classroom materials and lesson plans associated with Autism Works program’s chosen curriculum.
- Facilitates groups/classes – approximately 13-14 per week.
- Planning and coordinating monthly Community Enrichment Days for the AW students.
- Ensures the health, safety, and well-being of students in the Autism Works program; contributes to a positive, safe working environment.
- Monitors and evaluates progress of individuals (outcomes and methods), reporting results all in cooperation with the student’s team. Complete student observations.
- Completes all daily and monthly required documentation: timesheets, monthly reports etc.
- Ensures all training data are completed and filed appropriately.
- Provides training to staff working with individuals in the Autism Works program. Utilizes training techniques to ensure production levels are met and all staff are competent in their skills.
- Interacts with students served to promote self-esteem, confidence, and morale. Participates actively to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of students. Treats individuals with dignity and respect.
- Provides direct care back up within the facility in the absence of staff; provides back up direct care services in the community in the absence of management.
- Maintains individual's confidentiality, safeguards individual's rights.
- Develops and maintains a sound working relationship with schools, and parents; Relates well with the public, parents, schools/teachers, customers, visitors, state employees and other provider agencies.
- Have and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license. Always have dependable vehicle. Always have and maintain automobile insurance coverage. Maintain eligibility to operate agency vehicles. Must be willing to drive personal vehicle to and from schools – A New Leaf provides mileage reimbursement.
- Performs duties as requested to meet the needs of A New Leaf.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age – 21 years old.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, behavior science or a related field required.
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in the field of developmental disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Expressed desire to work with persons with developmental disabilities.
- Physical ability to conduct training involving lifting and transporting classroom materials to and from classroom spaces.
- Must have reliable transportation, current vehicle insurance and valid driver’s license.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be creative and flexible and able to work with self-regulation
- Must be able to facilitate a group/class of students with autism and/or similar barriers
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,000.00 per year
