Job Description:

On-Site CAD Designer/Engineering Technician supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, Des Moines, IA. Your primary role will involve maintaining revisions to contract drawings and making architectural and engineering sketches and preparing CADD drawings to support field management related to building construction or renovation.

This includes but not limited to:

• Drafting layouts for construction projects encompasses all disciplines i.e., electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc. that requires a working knowledge of the construction process and materials.
• Use multiple existing CAD files to build these layouts and modify with new information.
• Collaboratively work with VA staff and the VCI project management team to provide technical and drafting support.
• Assure all final products (CAD and or BIM files) are in conformance with client and National CAD standards. This will require the correct and or appropriate title blocks, plotting style (CTB file), layers, line types (LIN file), symbols, scaling, and annotation/text formatting and naming standards are followed.

Requirements:

• Required: 5 years of experience performing drafting for construction with a focus on field-based construction management support.
• Familiarity with scheduling, cost estimating, and overall design integration is necessary is desired.
• Proficiency in AutoDesk systems including AutoCAD and Revit. Experience in layer consolidation and revisions. Ability to perform site investigations and surveys to develop as-built conditions.
• Professional experience should also include ability to review and resolve engineering issues associated with construction and specification documents

Work Location and Hours:

• On-site work shall be performed during normal business days (Monday–Friday), approximately 8 hours per day.
• Performance will be at the Department of Veterans Affairs, 3600 30th St, Des Moines, IA 50310
