General Statement of Duties


Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, April 3, 2023.

Performs supervisory duties in planning and directing a group of Social Workers or Employment Services Workers; does related work as required.


Essential Duties


Essential Duties:

· Provide direct supervision & support to Adult Protective investigators and Adult Services staff:

o Individual supervision;

o Interviewing, hiring, training & onboarding new staff;

o Case documentation review for accuracy & compliance with federal, state & local policies and laws;

o Participation in various state and local committees to further collaboration efforts for service delivery and other adult protection related meetings and activities; and,

· Maintain current program knowledge & implement changes in practice for Adult Protective services, adult services, LTC screenings, ALF screenings, Guardianship Program, and the Companion Program.

· Gather statistical data related to Adult Protective investigations, Adult Services, program outcomes and community needs.

· Provide on-call supervisory support to Adult Service and Child welfare staff afterhours.

· Participate in unit, division, agency & community meetings and on local and state committees and task forces related to the work of the department.

· Participate on the Department’s leadership team working on strategic planning & best practice initiatives such as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, worker retention & trauma-informed best practices.

· Occasionally participate in activities outside of normal business hours around community awareness and collaboration with other agencies.

· Participation in shelter team operations as designated by the Emergency Operations Center.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

The person in this position must possess considerable knowledge in:

· Social work practice, particularly as it relates to working with elderly and disabled individuals, the identification of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation and services needed to prevent future risk of harm and other issues related to Adult Protective Services;

· Adult Service best practices, casework supervision and staff development practices; and,

· Strong working-knowledge of trauma-informed best practice in the protection, safety and well-being of elderly and disabled individuals and how trauma and resiliency impact senior citizens, disabled adults, their families and adult service staff.




Minimum Qualifications


Possession of a master's degree in social work and one (1) year of work experience directly related to the position to be filled; OR , a master's degree in a related field, such as sociology, psychology, or other behavioral science, and two (2) years of social work experience; OR , a bachelor's degree plus one (1) year of successful work experience in social casework in a recognized agency substituted for each year of the two-year graduate training program; OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
