We are dedicated to the eradication of unnecessary lower extremity amputations in patients with various illnesses, including Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). We perform a variety of minimally invasive treatments for various arterial and venous conditions, including in office procedures, ultrasound imaging, and clinical follow up appointments. Job Description
As a Certified Medical Assistant at Vascular Solutions of North Carolina, you will be a part of the Clinical Care Team. Your role involves engaging the patients and providing them with education to help them develop lifelong well-being and health. The Medical Assistant administers prescribed medical treatment and personal care skills under the direction of a Provider.
Responsibilities
- Prepares exam room and supplies needed for patient examination
- Escort patients to exam rooms or pre/post procedure area.
- Take vitals (temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, etc) and review medical history, medications list, and any information pertinent to their treatment.
- Preform scans using Quantaflo device as directed by the Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
- Remove bandages from wounds and rewrap as necessary.
- Partner with the Physician or Nurse Practitioner to give patients instructions for continuing their treatment plan at home and educate them on ways to monitor their condition.
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed and available in patients’ chart prior to their appointment
- Submit orders for patients as directed such as prescriptions, outgoing referrals, and lab work.
- Assist with operating the C-Arm during procedures alongside the Physician on a rotating basis with other Medical Assistants.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.
- Coordinate scheduling patient appointments or procedures with front desk staff.
- May occasionally be asked to assist with monitoring patients during post-op under RN direction. Familiarity with phlebotomy or IV’s preferred, but not required.
- Travel to satellite locations on a rotating schedule with other Medical Assistants is required.
Skills
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology is a must.
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and prioritize workload.
- Social perceptiveness and service-oriented personality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and EMR systems.
- Strong preference given to applicants who have experience working with C-ARM or in procedural areas.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Certified Medical Assistant, or further (Required).
- BLS Certification (Preferred).
- Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Assistant, or further.
- Strong preference given to applicants who have experience working with C-ARM, in procedural areas, or direct Vascular experience.
