Position : Dental Assistant

13 Weeks contract.

Purpose of Position:

Assist Dentists in all phases of general dentistry, maintaining an orderly, clean and efficient clinic both in the hospital and in the village; assist Dentist or DHAT in providing clinical comprehensive dental services

• These positions will work both in our Main Facility as well as regional villages
• A lot of travel to remove villages which entails sleeping on the floor in village clinics
• There can be an elevated pediatric case load
• When traveling to the village expect at least 3 hours of OT/day

Essential Functions:

· Assist in the training of Dental Assistant I staff, demonstrating a commitment to the training program

· Follow sterile, aseptic or radiographic technique, ensure the cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and patient care area in accordance with OSHA standards and corporate policies and procedures

· Monitor indicators of patient well being such as movement, color, respiration, etc. reporting any noticed condition to the dentist

· Perform simple cleaning (when trained to do so), oral hygiene instruction, fluoride treatments, denture repairs and sealants according to established procedure

· Assist the Dentist or DHAT in maintaining efficient four handed dental assisting techniques

· Take preliminary impressions, prepare study models from preliminary impression, trimming and labeling and fabricate impression trays, stents, base plates and other devices as directed

· Participate in itinerant field travel according to established procedures, compile weekly data for trips and restock dental field gear units and complete field trip inventory sheet

· Identify and address other clinic needs independently, provide clerical support, verify forms for completeness and submit medicaid pre-authorizations when applicable

· Perform other duties as assigned
