The Director Claim Management is responsible for investigating, analyzing and resolving own caseload including litigation management.
Responsibilities include:

Supervise and direct team members’ compliance with internal procedures and Best Practices.

Provide direct supervision and management for the claim group responsible for assigning, investigating, analyzing and resolving claims and assuring compliance with best practices for all claims for contract, commercial claims. Director is responsible for training and mentoring to assure claims are handled in a consistent, quality and timely manner.

Coordinate assignment of claim handlers to senior claim handlers on complex claims.

Perform claim audits of claim handlers.

Personnel management of members of the group.

Provide legal advice and support to the underwriting department for document review, drafting and revision.

At the direction of the Vice President Bond Claims, assist on special projects.

Assist the Vice President in the development and implementation of best practices for claim handling, including drafting of standard letters and improvement of processes.

Assist in development and implementation of new IT systems and refinements.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of eight years of Bond claim or construction industry experience

Experience coaching, mentoring, training and leadership skills for team.

Superior technical knowledge regarding coverage, liability, damages and litigation matters.

Superior understanding of surety claims and ability to evaluate claim values.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; with the ability to present in front of executive leaders.

Ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organization, including ability to interact with senior leadership in Claim, The Hartford’s business segments, and The Hartford’s distribution partners.

Established ability to execute including a proven track record managing complex projects or initiatives.

Strong analytical acumen and excellent planning and organizational skills.

Bias for action and continuous improvement.

Bachelor’s degree. Law degree preferred.
Location:
This position is eligible for full-time remote work in the United States.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$164,800 - $247,200
