The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist at the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters in our Northwest District Office located in Wood County.

You will serve as the statewide project coordinator for review and evaluation of corrosion control studies, recommendations and other water quality parameter (WQP) data prepared by a registered professional engineer. You will also prepare reports recommending approval or disapproval of proposed plans, such as permits.

You will lead the efforts to help determine and evaluate potential lead and copper impacts triggering corrosion control requirements. As our environmental specialist, you will prepare intensive guidance and lead training for district off staff to increase their technical capability relative to simultaneous compliance and corrosion control.

You are also going to act as the lead worker for reviewing technologies, studies and research as it relates to corrosion and service line identification, which could include developing policies, procedures, implementation guidance and training.

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core coursework in environmentally-related discipline; 3 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.
  • Or 2 yrs. relevant programmatic experience as Environmental Supervisor, 85865.
  • Or 7 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.
  • Or combination of education in environmentally focused discipline or other job-related discipline & specific programmatic experience equaling 7 yrs.
Knowledge of engineering or chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, geology, hydrogeology &/or other comparable physical or health science field &/or mathematics; employee training & development*; supervisory principles/techniques*; applicable state &/or federal laws, rules, regulations & standards relative to environmental control &/or public health area assigned*; environmental inspection & investigation techniques & procedures; computer simulations & predictive modeling. Skill in operation of laboratory sampling &/or surveying equipment; operation of video display terminal or personal computer. Ability to understand technical field of study & research, analyze & interpret &/or compile complex scientific/ technical data; prepare & maintain detailed, comprehensive reports & documents; cooperative with/lead co-workers & establish & maintain favorable public relations with government & academic institution officials, public, legislators, industry representatives & private citizens.
