Position Summary
The Executive Assistant to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs manages the operations of the Office of the VPAA and provides administrative and programmatic support to the Vice Provost. The EA is responsible for the organization of the office, as well as the planning and execution of various projects and events. The EA will assist with the creation and implementation of special projects and will research and draft and/or prepare correspondence and special reports. The individual will interact with all areas of the university – especially with the offices of the Provost, Deans and President and with faculty. The EA will also provide assistance to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs in coordinating meetings, managing communications, and handling scheduling.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education
  • Significant experience working in a professional office setting with senior-level administrators
  • Ability to act with a high level of independence in resolving problems and responding to inquiries
  • Demonstrates strong planning skills, with the ability to track, anticipate, and prepare for deadlines, events, and agenda items
  • Experience managing calendars
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • High degree of computer efficiency in a variety of software applications
  • Experience managing complex travel arrangements
  • Experience in gathering information and drafting documents and/or preparing PowerPoint or keynote presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse groups of individuals, including both internal and external constituencies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Experience designing and preparing press releases, web pages, and publicity
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia financial and administrative policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Banner (Finance) module

Advertised Pay Range
$55k – 60k commiserate with experience
