Kampack, Inc is starting up a new operation in McDonough GA. We are seeking candidates for an experienced Converting Supervisor for our new corrugated plant. The qualified candidate should have experience working in a fast-paced, high-speed environment with experience on both Flexos and Die Cutters as a Shift Production Supervisor.
Promoting safety and safe work practices, our Supervisors are responsible for leading and directing their crew in the manufacture of corrugated containers following quality guidelines and meeting productivity requirements. The supervisor is responsible for employee training and motivating their crews through coaching and exemplifying the characteristics we value as an organization to develop our employees for future success. The supervisor is an integral part of the process and communicates with other supervisors and departments to ensure we are meeting our customers requirements.
Reports to: Plant Manager
Position Details:
This position has responsibility for all day-to-day manufacturing operations including safety, quality, waste productivity, and occasional planning and/or shipping associated with the facility. The position contributes to achieving the plant’s sales objectives through coordination of workflow and product quality. This position works to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively to minimize costs.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe work environment that meets quality, and production levels set by leadership.
- Communicate with employees, other supervisors, including shift change and with Production Superintendent
- Address key issues and apply critical thinking when faced with problems or barriers to meeting goals
- Build highly effective teams in an environment that encourages and supports employee development and celebrates success; diffuse and resolve conflicts as they arise
- Work in a continuous improvement environment and address performance issues to create and support actions to close skill gaps
- Report quality concerns to Plant Superintendent and the Quality Manager.
- Communicate with your supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor about machine issues or needed repairs
- Support preventive maintenance in the department.
- Keep leadership informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department.
- Enforce the corrective action procedures when applicable and conduct meetings with the violating employees and union representative.
- Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with crew and enforce safety protocols
- Continue to develop your own skills and talent by participating in seminars, workshops, and technical courses,
- Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including union contract, safety program, and good housekeeping.
- Comply with company policies and procedure
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises employees on the assigned shift, including development and performance feedback
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience within a corrugated manufacturing environment with both Flexos and Die Cutters. Previous experience managing a group of employees of 8 to 20 and must possess a strong safety, operations and business background. The successful candidate will have process knowledge, be results-driven and possess strong communications skills.
Compensation: Based on required and relevant experience
Education, Training, Certifications
High school diploma or GED. Five years prior supervisory experience. Prior work experience in a high-speed facility in the corrugated industry is required.
Business Travel and Other Requirements
Up to 5% travel beyond local market for training or for customer visits.
Ability to work additional hours on an occasional basis (which may include Saturdays) as business needs necessitate.
All other duties as assigned.
