POSITION SUMMARY:
Metropolitan Commercial Bank is looking for a Financial Reporting Analyst to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, the Financial Reporting Analyst will have responsibility for assisting with Regulatory and SEC reporting requirements including, but not limited to the Earnings Release, Form 10-K/Q and Call Report. The position will be engaged in various monthly and quarterly financial analyses for Board presentations, and other financial/analytical projects on an ad hoc basis, with a focus on business process improvements and automation. Additionally, will assist with documenting technical accounting requirements and conclusions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Duties which are critical/central to accomplishing the purpose of the job.):

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following:

  • Assist in the timely preparation of high-quality earnings release, investor presentations, regulatory filings, board reports and Form 10-K/Q filings.
  • Focus on business process improvements and automation, including validation of current processes to required standards.
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Stay current on changes to Accounting Standards Codifications, SEC regulations and regulatory reporting requirements, and evaluate the impact on the Company's financial reporting.
  • Conduct and document accounting research on complex accounting and reporting matters.
  • Help prepare and maintain reporting policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
(minimum education and/or years of experience required to perform the job.):

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
(Required for this job.):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, with SEC reporting and regulatory reporting experience; ideally, also having Big 4 experience.
  • Self-motivated – able to think independently, creatively, and opportunistically; driven to add value and continuously seek opportunities for improvement both individually and as a team.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical reasoning skills.
  • Advanced experience with Excel and PowerPoint preferred. Experience with reporting tools, such as Toppan Merrill and/or Workiva, a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience researching and documenting disclosure guidance and the accounting treatment of complex issues and communicating them across the organization.
  • Strong communicator (written and oral) and proven ability to collaborate successfully with coworkers, management, and auditors.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of banking products, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
