House Manager Job at Trinity Recovery Home
Position Summary:
This position is a supervisory position overseeing residents and direct support professionals in a youth mental health residential program. This position is responsible for ensuring best practices, and compliance with all state, federal, and agency standards as required for assigned services.
Essential Job Functions:
Individual/Family Related
- Maintains a home-like environment and participates daily in the direct services of the group home.
- Serves as primary 1st shift staff, scheduling direct support professionals as medically indicated by residents who may be in the home at any given time.
- Serves as a primary professional of the home including all responsibilities appropriate to that role, including but not limited to facilitating meetings and supervision, client-specific training of staff, disciplinary actions, interviewing and hiring in coordination with Program Manager and Human Resources, and assurance of satisfactory completion of required documentation.
- Supervises the planning, purchasing, preparation, and serving of meals and snacks- with an emphasis on ensuring direct support professionals are including residents to the highest degree possible.
- Assists individuals in making and keeping appointments (doctor, dentist, etc.) as needed. As often as possible, this role serves as the primary staff to participate in medical appointments, assisting in communicating residents’ needs to professionals and bringing information back to all other residential staff to ensure all changes and orders from medical professionals are implemented.
- Encourages residents to do things independently, interact with others, and participate in community activities.
- Ensures direct support professionals are actively engaged with residents during all activities as appropriate, supporting individuals in learning.
- Encourages appropriate family involvement.
- Maintains awareness of successes, problems, and general attitudes of the individuals and the community and develops/implements goals to assist in improvement as needed in these areas.
- Ensures adequate staff coverage through scheduling consistently and filling in when needed.
- Ensures all training is provided and coordinates training opportunities with HR and Program Manager.
Responsibilities
- Maintain professionalism with residents, community members, staff, and the general public
- Promote the well-being and growth of residents by modeling and encouraging healthy communication, sound decision-making, and upholding house policies
- Support residential program in providing seamless 24-hour, 7-day week coverage
- Work as a team with all other staff to provide comprehensive client services
- Upholding program standards
- Reinforce program and case management goals
- Encourage residents to maintain a cooperative attitude toward the program and to one another
- Coordinate household activities such as chores, menu planning, and cooking
- Responsible for the general safety, overall cleanliness, and well-being of the residents and facility
- Document daily activities of the home and its residents. Make other staff aware of potential patterns, issues, or situations.
- Provide crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and related support services to residents
- Respond quickly to on-call notifications
Administrative
- Interviews hire and supervise all direct support positions in collaboration with HR and Program Manager.
- Submits overtime requests to the Program Manager and resolves scheduling problems while staying within budgetary parameters.
- Completes staff evaluations.
- Operates program within the approved budget.
- Accurately maintains petty cash account.
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of house supplies and materials.
- Personal care and other duties when filling in for direct support staff.
- All other duties as required by supervisor to meet the needs of the residents and the program.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude and demonstration of respect towards others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the discipline of the employee’s profession, the Group Home Manager needs the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must be a Team Player
- Must have experience working with children.
- Must have experience working with mental health.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors, group home residents, direct care staff, families, community agencies and groups, and a variety of service disciplines.
- Ability to establish appropriate professional boundaries and relationships with staff and individuals supported consistent with professional practice and professional ethics.
- Ability to work cooperatively, creatively and productively as a member of a team.
- Skills in computer applications necessary to perform the duties of this position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23 per hour salaried position
Qualifications for a House Manager:
- Have a minimum of high school diploma or GED (must provide copy of document)
- Bachelor’s degree Preferred
- Computer skills
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use sound judgment
- Treatment planning skills are helpful
- at least 21 years of age,
- Are fluent in speaking and writing in English
- Possess an Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (must provide before hire)
- Ability to pass drug screening and physical
- Have reliable transportation to and from work
- Driver’s license
- Can type 25 words per minute and have basic computer skills
- Personal qualities include flexibility, tolerance of varied lifestyles and behavior, and sound judgment.
- Prefer at least 5 years of experience in a related field such as Behavioral Health, Mental Health, BHT (Behavioral Health Technician), Caregiver, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), Certified Caregiver, PCS, or group home experience
