Rainbow Station, the Infant and Preschool program at the New Canaan YMCA, is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and nurturing candidates to join our team.

Why the Y? We are so much more than just a childcare program! The New Canaan YMCA is an inclusive, nonprofit organization committed to nurturing the potential of all kids, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Our classroom teachers work together to provide a program to foster children’s social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth. Our childcare classes participate in YMCA programming departments, including professional swim instruction, Bouncing Bears gymnastic time, music classes and more, all within the regular weekly schedule.

Our Center is open 7:30am to 6pm Monday through Friday - and closed on major holidays and the week between Christmas and New Years.

Full-Time teachers typically work 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week, with flexibility for overtime to meet scheduling needs.

Part-Time teachers have ability to work 4-5 hours per day, several days a week (such as 1 or 2 pm to 6 pm Monday to Friday) or full days 1-3 days a week. Let us know your availability, and we can see if it works for our staffing needs!

Tell us! Do you prefer……

• Morning Shift (7:15 am – 2:30 pm)
• Afternoon Shift (11am – 6pm)
• Rotating shifts – a combination of the above for those who like variety (and more freedom for work/life balance)

Our classrooms are small in size, and are grouped by age. Let us know if you prefer to work with......

• Infants (6 weeks to 14 months)
• Toddlers (we have a 1's classroom and a 2's classroom)
• Pre-school (we have a 3's classroom and a 4's classroom)

Successful candidates will possess:

• High school diploma
• Knowledge of Early Childhood Development
• A “Safety First” mindset
• Excellent communication skills and an abundance of patience
• Punctual and Reliable
• A love of singing, storytelling, imaginative play, and crafts
• Responsive and flexible to the needs of the program
• Ability to work well with children in cooperation with other staff and parents of participants
