Discover Impactful Work:
The individual will learn and demonstrate a working understanding of real-time PCR / qPCR workflows in general laboratory practice. General experience in other genetic analysis methods is an asset but not required. Successful applicants will be trained in Professional Selling Skills (PSS) which they will use as a framework to improve sales and strategic selling effectiveness. This person will grow comfortable using telephone selling skills to build customer rapport and develop consultative sales relationships. They will find opportunities to use Thermo Fisher Scientific’s products and solutions to help customers overcome problems, win orders and grow our business. Sales representatives will be asked to achieve or exceed the territory sales plan by maintaining existing business and conducting cold calls to developing incremental business in existing accounts, and prospect for new business. This individual will participate in and apply product and systems training, marketing campaigns, and special projects to develop appropriate selling skills consistent with Company philosophy, policies, and procedures. New hires will undergo a two-week on boarding period, followed by a week of selling skills training and will continue to receive further training throughout the year on an ongoing basis.

A Day in the Life:

  • Attain or exceed assigned sales, profit, and market share goals consistently while working within budgetary guidelines
  • Make daily outbound telephone calls to all interpersonal levels and functional areas in accounts where purchasing decisions are made. Meet all sales calls objectives
  • Prospect and develop relationships with new customers in the clinical laboratory space, while also cultivating existing customer relationships with an overall focus on growing revenue
  • Help existing clinical customers expand their current testing menus
  • Support Thermo Fisher's ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic by supporting customers engaged with Covid-19 testing as well as those interested in asymptomatic testing options
  • Capitalize on training opportunities to develop genetic analysis market and product knowledge to a level to conduct an effective telephone sales presentation
  • Communicate key competitor activities, market trends, and changing customer directions to the organization
  • Understand the competitive landscape within accounts to position like or better products to customers
  • Develop and implement a territory plan to grow business within your assigned territory
  • Apply data sources to analyze and develop sales opportunities with the greatest return on investment
  • Support marketing programs and programs in other territories as assigned by the Sales Manager
  • Complete assigned tasks and reports in a timely and complete manner while improving efficiency during key selling time

Keys to Success:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry preferred - Advanced Degrees are a plus, but not a requirement - we have a mix of educational and professional backgrounds

Experience:

  • 2+ years of sales experience in relevant industry

Working Conditions:
Candidate must be available to work various times during the workweek to accommodate best calling times in multiple North America time zones. Be able to travel as needed for required meetings and customer visits. This may include a variable work schedule to accommodate customer availability. The employee must occasionally lift objects up to 40 lbs. such as catalog cases. Maintain assigned equipment and tools provided by the Company in clean and working condition.
