Responsibilities and Duties

This faculty position will begin in August of 2023. Expectations for this position may include the following: teach in afternoons and/or evenings (non-peak times); teach dual credit classes in high schools; develop and teach web classes; develop and teach hybrid or blended classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: participation in academic advising, registration, and regular office hours. It is expected that all instructors participate in committee work, professional development activities, and student recruitment/retention activities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree in Government with at least 18 graduate hours from an accredited institution
• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a college instructor and a commitment to excellence in teaching are required.
• Preference will be given to applicants with three or more years of college teaching, and a second teaching field that falls within the purview of the Kilgore College Department of Humanities and Social/Behavioral Science.

• Compensation for this 9-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $43,000 for a master’s degree to $49,880 for a doctorate. Overload and summer classes are paid separately.

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws. Positions will remain open until filled. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
