LEAD STUDENT MINISTRY DIRECTOR

SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide high-level leadership to the overall Student Ministry of Hill Country Bible
Church (High School and Middle School, across locations) – investing in student’s present and preparing their future
through Faith, Friends, and Family. This person will partner with parents and work collaboratively across the organization
to identify and develop each student’s extraordinary potential to follow Jesus, impact others, and live with purpose.
OUTCOMES AND RESULTS – SUCCESS IN THIS POSITION WILL RESULT IN:
1. The mission and vision of Hill Country is advancing through a vibrant student ministry - working in collaboration
across all locations, ministries, and within the Family Ministry team to see students experience the love of Jesus and
for generations to be valued and celebrated
2. Ongoing personal life-change in students and their families - We know the home is the rich, vital soil for a
student’s faith to grow and flourish; by partnering with parents, our student ministry will be characterized by:
a. Faith: students knowing and following Jesus (Colossians 1:28-29, 1 Timothy 4:12, Psalm 119:105).
b. Friends: surrounded with Christ-centered, supportive relationships for seasons and for a lifetime (Proverbs
19:20; Galatians 6:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 3:13; Hebrews 10:24).
c. Family: partnering with parents (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) as the primary disciple makers of their students
3. Eph 4 model of ministry lived out - God’s people are engaged, equipped, and empowered to lead and own ministry
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
1. Learn, understand, and own the Student Ministry Purpose and Plan (MPP) – create and execute a clear ministry
strategy that effectively engages students, promotes life change, and empowers families and leaders.
2. Lead Ministry through Leadership Teams (manage staff and unleash servant leaders) – develop people to take next
steps spiritually and in their areas of service/leadership; envision, train, empower, coach, disciple
3. Communicate clearly and effectively in a myriad of channels – up front teaching, training, videos, social media,
emails, texts, celebrations, etc. and in a variety of settings – large groups, small groups, large events, parent
resourcing or training events, ongoing ministry communication, across Hill Country, and to those in our community
4. Collaborate and work closely with the Family Ministry Team, Locations, and all Ministries of Hill Country; own and
model our Discipleship Model (FFF), personal evangelism priority (BLESS), and all church goals/pillars
5. Steward time well - both your individual and ministry calendar and activities (events, trainings, meetings, etc.) are
direct implementations of the strategy needed to accomplish the mission, vision, and MPP for Student Ministry
6. Plan and track progress - intentional and ongoing evaluation of the ministry fulfilling its MPP; surface needed
adjustments, new opportunities to consider, and uncover inspirational ways to celebrate life-change
7. Work across generations and ministries as a leader and owner of The Great Adventure (summer outreach and
leadership development opportunity) to see the Body of Christ engaged and living on mission together
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. 5+ years’ full time Student Ministry experience (or similar); passion for students’ spiritual growth
2. BA in a relevant field; proven ability to develop and disciple people; experience leading a team of leaders
3. Strong communicator - ability to cast vision, inspire, equip, empower, teach biblical truths, develop, and mobilize
4. Theologically aligns with the core beliefs of HCBC and becomes an active church member
5. Sees themselves as an owner of the mission, vision, values, and goals of Hill Country Bible Church
6. Ability to adapt quickly and function in an integrated ministry within a large, matrixed organization; muti-site
experience preferred, but not required

1. Position reports to Senior Director of Family Ministry; position supervises the Student Ministry Team (Staff and
Servant Leaders across locations)
