About the LPN Opportunity:

The LPN is responsible for the overall health and well-being of the individuals residing at Lafayette Habilitation Center. The LPN completes all medical care necessary for each individual, including medication administration, treatments, tube feedings, suctioning, breathing treatments, etc. The LPN determines the need for emergency or additional medical attention and follows up on the individual's condition throughout hospitalizations, outpatient testing, and clinic visits.

• Work one-on-one with individual residents
• Administer and dispense medications
• Perform health assessments and maintenance
• Schedule clinic visits and return visits
• Collaborate and communicate transportation needs with facility supervisor
• Assess existing and new illnesses or injuries
• Obtain and transcribe doctor's telephone orders
• Order and receive new medications and refills
• Complete laboratory requisitions
• Complete daily rounds
• Provide nail care for all individuals
• Chart documentation
• Other duties as assigned

Professional Attributes/Qualifications:

The LPN must demonstrate a proficient knowledge of ICF/IID regulations; organizational and personnel policies and procedures; nursing policies and procedures, and all aspects of medical care. The LPN must also demonstrate excellence in patient care, completing job duties in a timely manner, and being pro-active in all emergency situations.

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education:

1. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

2. Valid registration as an LPN in the State of Missouri with NAPNES or OOPNES Certification in Pharmacology.

3. Current AHA Healthcare Provider training (BCLS).

Experience:

One-year experience in medical/surgical nursing and/or area of specialty preferred.
