Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant include:

  • Assist in the examination and treatment of patients
  • Interviews patients
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients
  • Position instruments and equipment
  • Hands instruments and materials to doctors as directed
  • Cleans & sterilizes instruments
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials
  • Schedules appointments, keeps medical records, performs administrative tasks
  • Escort patients to the examination room
  • Prepare the patient's chart, refer to last progress note
  • Call referring doctors and laboratories for test results
  • Prepare labels and requisitions for laboratory testing
  • Must follow O.S.H.A standards
  • Responsible for writing out prescriptions for tests, physical therapy etc.
  • Disability forms
  • Work/school notes
  • Authorizations
  • CPR certified
  • 2 years experience a Plus
  • Computer experience
  • Must be able to function in a fast paced environment
  • Orthopedic experience helpful
  • Knowledge of CPT & ICD10 coding
  • Knowledge of O.S.H.A. standards
  • Complete disability forms
  • Prepare surgery packets
  • Surgical authorizations

We have full time position available (patients scheduled until 8:00 pm one night a week) excellent Northwell benefits, some traveling involved from location to location (Southampton primary Riverhead on Mondays). Must have excellent clinical skills, experience preferred, and a professional demeanor. Ideal candidates must be able to function in a fast paced environment. Availability at all locations. Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
