The Medium/High Voltage Technical Engineer shall also support the review of electrical design, equipment selection, and construction of new projects in the EGP development cycle, focusing on medium and high voltage components commissioning, maintenance, repairing and root cause analysis and on improving the long-term function and serviceability of the proposed asset.
Additionally, this position shall develop and provide training programs for field personnel on topics within their scope of expertise.
This position requires heavy travel to our sites in Texas; therefore we are only considering candidates who reside in that State at this time. What You'll Do at Enel::
This position is responsible for leading and supporting maintenance personnel during critical, advanced and/or non-routine maintenance and troubleshooting for all medium and high voltage components installed within the North America BESS portfolio. This position will be the in-house technical expert on BESS medium and high voltage component technology for the Operations & Maintenance organization.
The Medium/High Voltage Technical Engineer shall also support the review of electrical design, equipment selection, and construction of new projects in the EGP development cycle, focusing on medium and high voltage components commissioning, maintenance, repairing and root cause analysis and on improving the long-term function and serviceability of the proposed asset.
Additionally, this position shall develop and provide training programs for field personnel on topics within their scope of expertise.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Provide advanced technical support for high-level plant activities during commissioning, maintenance work, fault diagnosis, and repairs on the medium and high voltage components of the BESS, substations medium and high voltage components as well as conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting regarding medium and high voltage components issues. This work may be conducted from the office or, as needed, with specific field trips.
- Identify improvements and new technical solutions applicable to BESS medium and high voltage components within the fleet
- Develop and lead a training program for medium and high voltage components technicians within the BESS fleet. Training shall focus on Condition Monitoring Technologies and Electrical systems operation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Coordinate with the rest of the Technical Services team to develop a Reliability Based Maintenance plan for each operational asset
- Create and review technical documentation, specifications, operating procedures, and troubleshooting support for the equipment associated to the company’s BESS project portfolio based on technical knowledge and interaction with local and international colleagues.
- Lead the development of Root Cause Analysis, Asset Criticality Analysis, and Failure Mode & Effect Analysis for the BESS portfolio
- Review and select the best spare part strategy for new and existing plants
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience in the utility-scale (10+MWac) solar/BESS industry, with a focus on the medium and high voltage components.
- A strong personal drive and interest in reliability and continual process improvement.
- A demonstrated knowledge of Medium and High Voltage three phase power systems, AC and DC power systems, instrumentation and digital control systems is preferable.
- Expert knowledge in the troubleshooting and repair of BESS medium and high voltage components, including substation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required, with the ability to engage and cooperate effectively with multidisciplinary and multinational teams.
- Strong knowledge in the use of all power plant-related test equipment including, but not limited to, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power quality analyzers, PV string analyzers, electroluminescence testing, thermography and associated test equipment. Certification in the use of such equipment is strongly desired.
- Certifications in reliability-based maintenance and/or asset management (CMRP, CRL, CAMA, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with NFPA 70e standards and requirements
- Ability to read and accurately interpret technical documents, tables, and figures
- Excellent computer skills with experience on the MS suite including Word, Excel and MS Project.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and planning requirements
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively with periods of limited direct supervision.
- A valid passport and driver’s license operable in all 50 states and Canada.
- Knowledge of Spanish is considered a plus
