Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York.
Summary: The Mental Health Worker provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of an RN or physician. The Mental Health Worker assists patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of an RN. The Mental Health Worker performs patient considering needs specific to the standard of care for age of patient.
Responsibilities:
- Provide psychosocial and physical care which may include personal hygiene care, cleaning overbed and bedside table table
- Answer call lights, anticipate patient needs and make rounds
- Run sensory, recreation, activity and or cognitive stimulation groups
- Observe mental and physical conditions and report changes to supervising RN
Requirements:
- HS diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification within 90 days of hire
- CPI Certification within 30 days of hire
- 1-year prior experience in a psychiatric setting (preferred)
- Past experience as a nurse’s aide (preferred)
