Inland Neurosurgery and Spine in collaboration with Providence Neuroscience Institute is seeking a full-time Neurosurgical PA or Nurse Practitioner to join their well-established and collegial neurosurgery group of 8 surgeons and large group of PA/ARNP/RNs in Spokane, WA. This position is part of a multidisciplinary, multispecialty Neurosurgery practice where subspecialties of endovascular, vascular, oncology, functional, spine, and pediatrics is already established.

We have academic affiliations with the University of Washington and Washington State University medical schools with weekly rotation of students on Neurosurgery and work with a team of Neuro Intensivists and medical residents on the wards.

Call is split amongst all providers within the group. The position will pair you with one of the general neurosurgeons. There is an average workload of 2 clinic days per week and 2-3 OR days per week. We also have substantial help from the Neuro Intensivists and Hospitalist for complicated patients needing multidisciplinary care.

· A minimum of 1 year of experience with Neurosurgery or be highly motivated to learn alongside Neurosurgery providers.

Hybrid Mid-Level Job Description:

1. The hybrid mid-level will function in a capacity that blends aspects of a traditional office-based mid-level practice and those associated with a surgical mid-level.

2. The hybrid will see patients in the office 3 ½ days per week.

3. The hybrid will make weekly rounds at St. Luke’s to check wounds and remove sutures or staples as needed.

4. The hybrid will provide office/surgical coverage to those surgeons who are working and their respective surgical mid-level who has a scheduled absence (not including weekday call.)

5. The hybrid would not be expected to suddenly drop their existing schedule to accommodate a surgeon in situations where the surgical mid-level is unexpectedly absent (as in the case of an illness), unless the hybrid and affected surgeon reach a mutual agreement.

6. In a situation where a surgical mid-level is off for an extended period, as in the case of maternity leave, the hybrid would step in and function as the surgical mid-level.

7. The hybrid would spend Fridays operating with each of the surgeons and over time will learn the specifics associated with each surgical practice.

8. If a surgical mid-level quits, the hybrid will step up to cover that surgical practice until a new mid-level is hired. If the hybrid decided to stay on as said surgical mid-level, they would have the choice to do so, and new mid-level would be hired to fill the hybrid vacancy.

9. The hybrid would rotate into the weekend call coverage pool. The hybrid will, in effect, take as much weekend call as the surgical mid-levels and rotate in the holiday coverage.

10. The hybrid would not take weekday call. Scheduled mid-level absences that conflict with call will be traded out ahead of time to insure seamless coverage.

11. The hybrid would receive the same bonus structure as a surgical mid-level.

Comment: There were 61 days in 2022 where a surgical mid-level was scheduled out of the office and their respective surgeon was working. In the future, the hybrid would be scheduled to fill these vacancies.
