Position Title: Occupational Therapist ONE YEAR POSITION Location: Kittery School District K-12 Reports To: Director of Special Services Position Start Date: 8/30/23Required Certification: Occupation TherapistCertifiedApplication Deadline: Until suitable candidate is foundThe Kittery School District is currently seeking a certified occupational therapist (OT-C) for one year only (8/30/23 - 6/14/23). The Kittery School District is currently seeking a full-time occupational therapist for a one-year position for the 2023-24 school year in Kittery, Maine. The occupational therapist will provide direct service to students in grades K through 3, as well as supervision of service provision provided by a COTA for grades 4-12. The occupational therapist will be responsible for completing initial and triennial evaluations for students in grades K-12, actively participating in all IEP team meetings, making determinations for service provision based on evaluative data, developing IEP goals and objectives aligned with student needs, and implementing accommodations and modifications within the school environment.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members, as well as closely with families to best support unique student needs. We are seeking a passionate and creative individual who works flexibly regarding the setting of service delivery including direct, small-group, inclusion, and consultation. In this setting it is important to provide a therapeutic space for guiding students during sensory or motor breaks as needed. We focus on finding the just-right challenge for students with the overarching goal of helping students increase their independence and participation in meaningful occupations throughout their school day.
Professional Duties: Responds to requests for consultation on students or consults on specific program needs. Responds to evaluation referrals for students with suspected disabilities or re-evaluation of students with identified disabilities. Develops present level of function and an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) with goals and objectives in conjunction with the IEP team. Implements service delivery to assigned students based on the goals, objectives, frequency/ duration, and placement as determined by the IEP team.
Exhibits knowledge of clinical theory and its application as it relates to the students' educational needs. Maintains oral and written communication with educational personnel and parents. Works cooperatively with educational staff to identify areas where support is needed, including adaptation strategies. Candidates must submit to a criminal history record check through the State of Maine Education Department.
