UI Health is seeking three (3) Ophthalmic Technicians to join our SCB Ophthalmology Clinic. This role will work under the direct supervision of an ophthalmologist, assists in direct and indirect patient care. This includes case histories, visual acuity measurement, visual field testing, refractometry, contact lenses, instrument maintenance. Provide instructions to patients concerning their eye care.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and record patient’s medical history.
  • Perform all patient vision testing and eye measuring functions including ophthalmic photography/imagining.
  • Measure glasses so they properly fit the patient.
  • Instruct patients on proper eye care, hygiene, and usage of eye medicine.
  • Responds to patient inquires and relays information to the appropriate clinician based on the nature of the inquiry.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:


  • A. Two years (24 months) of work experience comparable to that gained performing basic Ophthalmic services


    OR

    B. Eligibility for certification as an Ophthalmic Technician by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology

NOTE: Graduation from an approved college of optometry or completion of a medical residency program in ophthalmology satisfies requirement 1.
