Growing pharmaceutical wholesaler is looking to add a Production Manager to their team.

This key leader is responsible for the daily operations of the industrial manufacturing plant ensuring that all goals and objectives are met. The Plant Manager is both an operational leader and role model for their staff ensuring that the site and their teams operate in a highly productive and safe manner, continually working to exceed goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Manage and supervise all plant operations ensuring that the highest level of productivity, safety and quality are maintained at all times
Develop and foster effective and productive teams using ongoing performance management.

Ensure that continual process improvement is practiced through the use of Lean Manufacturing tools and activities
Set goals and plan a course of action for the plant. Have a vision of the plant’s future.

Productivity

Ensure the accurate accounting of all inventories and closely monitor any deviations from the estimated inventory.
Support and enforce the use of the functional organization and enforce the use of operating policies and procedures.

Proactively identify challenges and operational issues in the plant and develop solutions
Generates monthly work-in progress report and adjust job cost estimates as necessary
Coordinates monthly production schedule with master schedule
Monitor plant overhead expenses and improve financial performance by using Lean Tools and Performance Management to reduce labor hours, overtime and operating budgets

Safety

Communicate and endorse the company safety program through regularly scheduled meetings
Initiate and embrace a safety culture where all employees feel comfortable communicating safety concerns.

Quality

Ensure that all quality problems are acted upon and the results are being monitored
Foster the Lean Manufacturing environment to continually manage and improve the plant’s quality
Train staff to look for and report quality issues in all phases of product life at plant, i.e. form setting, pouring, curing, finishing, storage, loading, shipping.

Performance Management

Delegate tasks to members of the management team and monitor the delegated tasks. Give supervisors the authority to accomplish the tasks.

Foster a workforce focused on a high level of teamwork, productivity, safety and performance using the Performance Management process
Improve people management by setting goals, action plans and holding people accountable
Make key personnel decisions including but not limited to hiring, promotion, team building, coaching, discipline, and termination.
Evaluate the performance of direct reports and review their evaluations of their subordinates at least annually.
Maintain a workforce that is compliant with company policies regarding equal employment opportunity and does not tolerate discrimination and/or workplace harassment.
Ensure that all employees read, understand and sign their job description or duties list.

Ensure the coordination of efforts between departments.

Requirements

Job Requirements

5+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at an pharmaceutical wholesales or manufacturing facility.
Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement.
Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering.
Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends
Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
Highly motivated, results oriented, driven.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
