Summary of Duties:

The Program Assistant performs specialized technical/clerical duties in support of the myWSU student records system. Under general supervision, perform complex clerical projects specific to myWSU and the Reinstatement program in support of departmental program services. Provide students, faculty and staff, program participants and/or the public with information and interpretation of policies and activities related to academic advising, program plan and advisor changes, major and minor certification updates, academic tutoring, and academic reinstatement. Duties include creating written communications, and maintaining electronic and manual record keeping/filing systems and/or data base files relating to program operations. Other duties include assisting with some front desk operations including appointment scheduling, responding to phone and email inquiries and requests for information, processing mail, and greeting/directing department clientele to appropriate services.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with student records.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges
  • Customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and complete assignments with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and think independently with good decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access.

Monthly Salary:

Range 35, $2,890 to $3,821 (A-M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
