Position Summary
William & Mary’s Department of Psychology invites qualified applications for the hourly position of Program Assistant whose efforts will support the day-to-day programmatic and administrative needs of the department chair, staff, faculty, and undergraduate students. Primary responsibilities include website maintenance, monitoring office supply and equipment inventory, assisting with communications and outreach to students and alumni, and providing excellent customer service support.

Anticipated start date: June 2023.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience indicating possession of preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Familiarity of general office practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills to include Internet browsers and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and disseminate information effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to learn website technology platforms, i.e., Cascade, Blackboard, group calendars, listservs, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with general office practices and procedures.
  • Experience maintaining web pages, group calendars, and/or listservs.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience using website technology platforms, i.e., Cascade, Blackboard, group calendars, listservs, etc.

Advertised Pay Range
$15.50 per hour; 15 hours per week.

Conditions of Employment
This is an hourly position authorized for a max of 15 hours/week and does not include employee benefits. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background check is required. Work schedule is within regular business hours as determined by the chair. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. i.e., during graduation, open house, homecoming, orientation, career nights, etc.
