PSYCH TECH Job at UNC Health Blue Ridge
JOB SUMMARY: The Psychiatric Technician is responsible for meeting the needs of the psychiatric and or chemically dependent patient. The Psychiatric Technician reports to the unit Lead Psychotherapist. Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred) from an accredited program in the area of Human Services or a related field of study or a two-year degree in a related field in combination with experience in a mental health setting.
Experience: Prefer two years’ experience in a mental health setting.
License/Registration: Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. A current CPI certification or able to obtain CPI certification initially and maintain annually.
Other: Therapeutic communication skills required. Ability to work effectively with psychiatric patients in both individual and group settings.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires range of motion within functional limits. Requires frequently: pushing 40 lbs; pulling 80 lbs; standing; walking; repetitive trunk rotation-standing; manual dexterity; both handedness (both hands must be used); functional vision and hearing; Occasionally: lifting 35 lbs from floor to waist and waist to eye level; one handed carrying 15lbs; work kneeling; work squatting/crouching; visual color discrimination; and visual depth perception.

Schedule: Full Time, 7a-7p, 3 (12 hour shifts)
