About the Quality Manager role:
Plans, coordinates, and directs quality programs designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with ISO 9001 or equivalent Standard required for respective Plant and established MCS standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Business Process Quality work focuses on developing, identifying, analyzing and improving existing general business processes (i.e., back-end processes not related to manufacturing).
Major Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate superior leadership and quantifiable innovation in areas of critical thinking and problem solving to enhance customer satisfaction and address customer dissatisfaction.
  • Supports the quality objectives in compliance with ISO 9001 or equivalent Standard required for respective Plant and corporate policies and goals. Planning implementing quality assurance and compliance processes
  • Applying process definition, improvement and design methodologies to identify, analyze and improve business processes to improve quality, reduce costs, increase efficiencies/productivity, increase customer satisfaction, etc.
  • Developing documentation to support analysis and improvement including business requirements, functional specifications, process maps, gap/problem analysis, etc.
  • In some organizations may include supporting development of training and/or change management materials and activities to support new processes and procedures Includes Six Sigma/Lean/Kaizen practitioners working in a non-manufacturing environment.
  • Acts as an ISO Representative for the respective Plant.
  • Communicates and demonstrates quality philosophy to all personnel within the organization.
  • Provides direction and assists with the development and initiation of quality standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of products.
  • Provides leadership with maintaining the internal audit process to measure compliance with established procedures.
  • Provides hands on direction of planning, analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of products or components.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records when required.
  • Applies statistical methods, including SPC, for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Assists with the review of all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
  • Works with respective plant functions and personnel to resolve significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions to be taken to improve the situation.
  • Provides direction for preparation and presentation of technical and program information related to Quality for location assigned.
  • Supervises employees engaged in quality functions including inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials and products.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of ISO (or equivalent Standard required for respective Plant) and industry quality codes and standards.
  • Assists with the design and implementation of quality training programs for personnel within the organization.
  • Assists with the investigation, addressing, and resolution of customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Supports the Continuous Improvement programs for the respective Plant and MCS Division as needed.
  • Assists working with Suppliers on quality related topics and aids in the development of new Suppliers.
  • Provides direction and assists with the writing, maintenance, and distribution of procedures related to the Quality System.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience. 5+ years. Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma within 3 years.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, suppliers and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
