Feed Products & Service Company is a well established, 75 year old, family-run feed ingredient business. We are seeking a qualified, enthusiastic individual for a full-time position as Quality Control Specialist at our flagship distribution facility in Madison, IL.

This position is an integral part of our operation, ensuring the quality of the products we distribute and enhancing our professional image. The Quality Control Specialist will supervise our laboratory, where we analyze material and diligently document results to ensure we are complying with the industry standards. This person will work with personnel from other departments, including sales, operations and accounting, for various purposes. There will be an opportunity for very occasional travel to assist sales department personnel by qualifying products' nutritional value with target customers and animal nutritionists. This candidate will be accountable for renewing industry certifications and working with third party organizations and auditors for routine or occasional inspections of the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of food safety and quality programs at the facility. Ensuring that the programs are not only compliant with regulations/certifications but also sustainable for operations. This includes, but not limited to programs supporting FDA, Global Food Safety Initiative, and Sustainability.
• Responsible for monitoring food safety and quality, which may include but is not limited to: trending product data, ensuring testing equipment is functioning properly, and sending out samples for third party analysis .
• Responsible for representing the facility as a key contact for food safety and quality audits/inspections. These include but are not limited to: state/federal inspections, SQF, etc.
• Foster a food safety and food quality culture through open communication and education with plant managers and employees.
• Manage the site execution of prerequisite program verification and monitoring. This will include but is not limited to coordinating foreign material verifications with the operations team, pest control monitoring, supplier management, calibrations, and recall.
• Work with the onsite team to investigate and create preventative action based on quality events/customer concerns. Manage the investigation, root cause and resolution of customer issues. Implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Inspect and receive samples. Calibration of lab equipment.
• Obtain/Maintain certification as a SQF Practitioner and complete PCQI training for Human and Animal Food Production.
• Stay abreast of food safety regulations and laws within the countries ZFS conducts business.
• Helps support and ensure compliance with company Safety/Environmental/Quality/HR program policies and procedures.
• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.

Education and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree - Animal Science or Agricultural related field with relevant animal nutrition experience
• Some chemistry knowledge preferred
• Background in Agriculture

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
