Safety Coordinator

This position will focus on creating and enforcing a culture of health and safety in the organization. Responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of employee health, safety, and emergency response programs. Will collaborate with the Operations team to ensure a work environment that is focused on accident prevention through proper ergonomics and employee training.

So, What’s the Gig?

  • Plan, develop, and implement policies and programs that promote employee health and safety. Ensure they are in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Gathers data and prepares reports tracking claims, inspections or inspection results, or safety incidents or violations.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining all required records, logs and reports. Ensures they are completed timely and accurately.
  • Active participant in safety incident investigations including near misses and loss to uncover root causes and develop corrective action and prevention initiatives.
  • Monitors known health and safety issues, or environmental hazards on or around the workplace. Collaborates with Operations to ensure resolution of known issues.
  • Develop, communicate, implement, and execute facility-specific emergency response and evacuation plans including regular tornado and fire drills.
  • Develops and facilitates training programs that cover safety polices and best practices including but not limited to forklift training, log out tag out procedures, and use of fire extinguishers. Ensures all training meets OSHA requirements.
  • Ensures that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately updated and maintained.
  • Work with physical therapist to mitigate safety risks on production floor, conduct job specific ergonomic checks and implement ergonomic solutions and changes as needed.
  • Works with employees across the organization to ensure proper ergonomic procedures are followed and address ergonomic concerns.
  • Leads employee safety committee to ensure collaboration with employees to implement solutions that address safety issues and reduce accidents.
  • Manages workers compensation claims by working directly with the insurance company, employee, and care providers to ensure details are handled efficiently and the employee experience is positive.
  • Responsible for recording, reporting, and submitting of all on-the-job injury or illness as required by OSHA. Must be knowledgeable of the regulations, ensure company is in compliance and appropriate records are maintained.
  • Review and document physical demands and working conditions for all Kreg jobs. Research and stay current on requirements of how we provide this information to employees, how is it used, and where it is documented.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in a safety related role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Proven experience with OSHA regulations and other applicable laws and guidelines.
  • Understanding of fire codes, evacuation procedures and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of safe workplace practices, policies, and standards.
