NATURE OF THE JOB: Langston University, a comprehensive land-grant historically black institution of higher learning, invites nominations and applications for the position of Site Director, School of Nursing – Tulsa campus. The University is seeking an academic leader who can articulate and advance a creative vision for the future for the School of Nursing; embrace the strategic directions of the University; and advance creative programs that are aligned with the institution’s mission and School’s purpose.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree in nursing; a doctoral degree preferred; (applicants may be considered who can provide ongoing proof of continuous enrollment and course completion in an accredited doctoral program, which includes signing a contract with specific graduation stipulations); rank will be based on scholarly distinction appropriate for the appointment; two years in an administrative role, including teaching, budgetary, and personnel supervision experiences at the college level; licensure in the State of Oklahoma or the ability to meet eligibility requirements for obtaining a nursing license in the State of Oklahoma (must obtain unrestrictive Oklahoma RN license before hire)
Preferred areas of specialty: Leadership or Adult Health
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports directly to the School of Nursing (SoN) Dean
- Current knowledge of Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) and assures standards are consistently met
- Prepare state, regional, and national accreditation reports, as assigned, to assure compliance
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to include teaching and scholarly activities
- Engage in long-range planning for the School while maintaining a continuous focus on high-quality teaching, faculty research, and creative activities to enhance the School’s national prominence
- Enhance partnerships with local high schools and community colleges
- Work with internal and external constituents to assure support for the School
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Implement the use of collaborative decision-making and confidentiality
- Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions
- Team player and the ability to build an effective team; ability to work cooperatively within a team structure
- Maintain open communication with the dean and course faculty
- Contribute to faculty unity by supporting and encouraging peers
- Maintain positivity as an employee of the university
- Functions under the knowledge of one nursing program
- Effectively communicates and functions under the guidelines of one nursing program
- Attends department, school, and university faculty and administrative meetings
- Serve on assigned committees
- Meets deadlines
- Prepares faculty, clinical site and class scheduling assignments
- Participate in recruitment and hiring of full-time, adjunct faculty and staff
- Orients, supervises, and evaluates faculty and staff
- Liaison with clinical agencies and other schools of nursing
- Sets up and oversee the management of student orientation and schedules, student pre-admission and program student immunizations/ drug screen, etc.
- Participates in student recruitment
- Teach assigned courses
- Attend faculty meetings
- Assume and effectively perform of other duties as assigned by SoN Dean
