Job Title:Staff Accountant - Breeden Construction
Reports To:CFO

JOB SUMMARY
The staff accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through the preparation of the company’s reports and statements, as well as performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. The staff accountant will work from the Virginia Beach corporate office and will report to the Breeden Construction Vice President/CFO.

PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:

• Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting systems for financial transactions.
• Maintain the general ledger, recording cash receipts and financial transactions.
• Reconcile bank, credit card accounts and intercompany accounts.
• Coordinate collection activities, with support from the team, including calls and emails to customers, and internal escalations as required for problem accounts.
• Generate and send monthly statements to customers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing with employees and the public.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software and accounting software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required.
• At least three years of related experience required.

Pay: $38,077.50 - $67,922.69 per year
