Responsible for supporting the ambulatory enterprise by developing reports, extracts, and dashboards to provide our consumers with the information necessary to perform clinical operations analysis and financial analysis. The Strategy and Operation Data Analyst will work collaboratively with others to support the strategic objectives and to ensure the appropriate information is available to drive decision making and support business needs.

Responsibilities:

Reporting & Analysis

  • Refresh monthly operational dashboards for ambulatory service lines and field all data related questions from leadership
  • Provide analytical consultation to ambulatory leadership
  • Support reporting and extract projects: formulate methodology, establish data requirements, identify consumer deliverables, and determine tasks and timing
  • Develop and run reports, extracts, and dashboards as requested within the ambulatory enterprise to provide information to help improve operations and system performance
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly reports and distribute to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the data structure to report findings accurately and efficiently in a meaningful and understandable manner
  • Execute analyses, communicate trends, patterns and make the results accessible and relevant to a wide variety of consumers
  • Create appropriate documentation that allows team members and other stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis and or replicate the analysis if necessary
  • Perform market analysis to survey existing and perspective growth opportunities
  • Develop tools for operational leaders to capitalize on revenue and cost saving opportunities
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet the department work schedule and provide regular status reports to the manager
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested by the manager to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the department

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste, and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:


Bachelor degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or other related field.


  • Preference given to applicants with an MHA/MBA


Experience:


1-3 years of work experience in a related position. Advance Excel skills required.


  • Preference given to applicants with healthcare experience and a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, gathering report requirements, and designing and implementing solutions.


License(s)/Certification(s):


Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • Ability to learn IT systems quickly to extract data or analyze reports.
  • Ability to work with large data tables, break them down to find salient information, and be able to communicate findings verbally and in written communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a collaborative team member.
  • Ability to adjust work load quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work autonomously for periods of time.
  • Ability to understand and apply Unity Point Clinic, UnityPoint at Home, and Business Development Department guidelines, policies, and procedures.


  • Knowledge and experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau)
