General Description

The purpose of this position is to administer and maintain the organization’s servers, storage infrastructure and related components to ensure the availability and integrity of the various business applications hosted in the city data center. Where applicable, the System Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center. Work with the IT team on the administration of approximately 100 servers including Microsoft Server 2016, 2019 and 2022. Assist with the administration for VMware virtual server environments and administration for shared storage infrastructure.


Essential Job Functions

Manages and reviews network security via the firewall.

Manages and reviews network security end-point security applications.

Manages physical desktop and server hardware environment.

Manages VMware virtual servers and virtual desktop environment.

Manages active directory.

Manages Microsoft Office365 and Exchange online.

Manages e-mail security and archive environment.

Manages DNS environment.

Manages Disaster Recovery Solution.

Manages the back-ups of servers.

Additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field preferred (4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)

VMware Certified Professional

Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate

  • Physical Requirements

    JOB LOCATION: All City owned buildings, parks, grounds and recreation facilities. Any off-site locations and facilities utilized as part of the City's participation or involvement in an event, activity or job assignment.
