Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Van/Bus driver is responsible for the transportation and safety of residents and sccompanying staff during medical appointments and activity trips. All residents and staff are required to be properly secured by seat belts when the van/bus is in motion.
- The van/bus driver is responsible to check the van/bus schedule regularly for updted medical appointments and trips.
- The van/bus driver should assist staff with the safe loading and unloading of residents by the steps or by lift using proper safety precautions. The van/bus driver should assist staff with monitoring the safety of residents and helping whenever possible in the situation at hand. The driver shall be trained in the use of gait belt use and lifting techniques to ensure the staff and resident safety
- Check vehicle before each trip for mechanical defects such as tire pressure, signal lights, etc,, using a list as instructed by the maintenance department
- Report any malfunctions or concerns to the maintenance department as soon as they are noticed
- Refill the gas tank when the guage indicates half full at the designated gas station
- Vehicle fluids such as windshield washer, anti-freeze, oil, etc, should be monitored. The bus/van driver is responsible to take the vehicles for oil changes
- Wash outside of vanbus once a month during summer months and twice a month during the winter months at a car wash or by using the facility hose as weather permits
- The vehicles floors shall be swept after each use
