Job Summary:
Total responsibility for the day-to-day operation of moving products manufactured by a fast-paced manufacturing facility to its national customer base.
Primary Function:
- Provide analytical and logistical transportation support and delivery of manufactured company materials.
- To minimize cost by securing backhauls with company-purchased items as well as outsourced non-perishable cargo.
- To maintain system-wide routing of the fleet.
- To manage an office staff of dispatchers, brokers, safety officer, and drivers.
- Manage deliveries in accordance with policy, quality, budget, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop, implement, and train new methods of handling to reduce quality issues.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze logistical control data.
Fleet Size: Company-owned Over the Road 50+ tractors and 100+ trailers.
Freight Type: Outgoing freight Kitchen Cabinetry. Incoming freight, the company used items and outsourced cargo.
Area Covered: Continental US.
Average # loads shipped per week: 58-65. Average miles per tractor per week: 2,200.
Requirements:
- Minimum of Associates degree in logistics or equivalent experience with multi-model responsibilities and leadership roles.
- General knowledge of the Federal Motor Carriers Act and Department of Transportation guidelines. Working knowledge of exports.
- Understanding of PeopleNet or similar electronic tracking system.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Working knowledge of Microsoft office or similar software to create spreadsheets for communication to management.
