Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist Job at Carol Stream Animal Hospital
Hello from the Carol Stream Animal Hospital! We are located in Carol Stream, Illinois and have been treating and caring for companion animals (dogs and cats) for almost 25 years. Our hospital is one big family, and our animal hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our animal-loving staff. We see patients by appointments, but we do accept walk-ins and see a multitude of emergency cases.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be willing to learn, has a great attitude, and has availability to work on weekends. We are looking for someone who is familiar with working with companion animals but is also great at communicating with our patients’ owners. While experience is preferred, we are absolutely willing to train an individual with the desire to learn.
Veterinary Assistant responsibilities
- Provide assistance to our Veterinarians
- Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room
- Take pets’ weight and other vital signs upon arrival
- Provide patient restraint during procedures and examinations
- Fill and fax prescriptions
- Provide assistance during radiology and surgical procedures
- Clean and maintain the surgical room in preparation for procedures
- Prepare instruments and medications as directed by veterinary personnel
- Scheduling appointments
- Consulting with software technicians as needed
- Performing additional clerical and administrative work
- Adhere to hospital’s safety and wellness regulations
- Educate clients about preventative care.

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
