The Filler Operator position is responsible for efficiently, effectively and safely operating packaging machinery in the fluid department and ensuring that all finished products meet corporate and regulatory requirements.
The Filler Operator makes an impact by –
- Operate all filler machines in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
- Control and monitor the operation of filling machine equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on the filler machine.
- Troubleshoot the filler machine to determine the cause of operating errors.
- Accurately perform Brix testing within specified parameters and notify the Team Leader and/or Supervisor of any non-conformance issues.
- Ensure machine is set up correctly and operating properly.
- Ensure that the product container, cap, and front/back labels for a particular product all match.
- Ensure that container caps are properly sealed and the correct fill line is maintained.
- Operate all machines directly related to the filler (e.g. label applicator).
- Check and document code date accuracy and legibility prior to and during production runs.
- Check and document finished product weights as per Quality Assurance (QA) procedures prior to and during production runs.
- Make the necessary adjustments to running parameters and standards during production runs, as necessary.
- Assess and notifies the Team Leader and/or Supervisor when adjustments do not resolve operational issues with equipment.
- Use machine reports to complete all required documentation for production runs at the end of each item run before starting on next product.
- Complete the Quality Assurance sign-off sheet before drawing any finished product to filler to ensure the finished product meets all quality standards.
- Responsible for notifying Team Leader and/or Supervisor of any quality related issues.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is complete prior to bottling of finished product.
- Must be able to taste product at the start of bottling run and at change of tanks to ensure it meets quality standards and is free of any off-notes. Saves “first off” samples from each product run as a part of this process.
- Keep an orderly and clean work environment.
- Accurately complete and/or record on HMI all necessary documentation associated with job-related tasks and operating parameters as required.
- Identify and record all occurrences of downtime that are 2-minutes or greater in duration.
- Monitor all process functions and report any unusual events to the Team Leader and/or Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all unused packaging materials are properly sealed before releasing to the warehouse.
- Ensure that product changeovers occur correctly and in a timely manner and that machine speeds are maintained per standard running parameters.
- Wash and sanitize all assigned equipment including exterior of fillers after any mechanical or physical contact with machines and at changeover.
- Perform and monitor Clean In Place (CIP) of fillers and product lines.
- Perform Clean Out of Place(COP) on fittings/small parts and pipes.
- Monitor cleaning chemical solution for proper strength. Record and report this information.
- Responsible for communicating with on-coming relief personnel concerning shift operation to ensure a smooth transition.
- Responsible for environmental cleaning and sanitizing in Fluid Production, which includes but is not limited to equipment, floors and drains.
- Set a good example on a daily basis by his/her actions and attitude.
- Ability to work overtime during peak production periods to ensure customer demands are met.
- Maintain adherence to work hours scheduled specifically starting, quitting, lunch and break schedules.
- Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations and safety guidelines.
- Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements. Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 Systems. Is accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles.

- Works effectively with department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements that provide value to the customer.
