With over 650 student-athletes participating in UW's 22 sports programs, the department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing student-athletes with the ability to compete for national and conference championships while working toward a degree from one of the world's leading public research universities.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Creative Services and will serve as a member of the University of Washington’s football program creative team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In-House Materials
  • Create team collateral materials including but not limited to branding/logo development, signage, facility graphics, camp brochures, clinic marketing materials, stationary, team clothing, internal documents, team schedules, etc.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the printing process, digital photography, and techniques for use in motion graphics.
  • Supervise creative photo shoots for current players.

    Recruiting Materials
  • Create compelling designs and infographics that effectively communicate the Husky Football mission.
  • Execute and steward brand guidelines for the Washington Football program.
  • Ensure all designs properly align with the program’s values and messages.
  • Create and organize a working system for the production of recruiting materials and the resources needed.
  • Design mailings, social media, and recruiting campaigns.
  • Provide photography and coverage for all photo shoots of recruits.

    Management
  • Interview, hire, train, and supervise a full-time Assistant Director of Graphic Design, as well as student interns.

    Game Day
  • Photograph the game day atmosphere in order to produce content that shows the personality of Husky Football.
  • Capture and collect content during games to use as resources for recruiting, facility, and coaching staff materials.
  • Provide color correction and edit images for database and material usage.

    Marketing Strategy and Collaboration
  • Develop and implement a theme/strategy that is cohesive with the current season and team across all platforms.
  • Work closely with the UW Athletics central creative team to conceptualize, create, and execute Football’s Brand Guidelines and a UW Football Style and Standards Guide.
  • Create and maintain a creative asset database.
  • Work closely with the UW Athletics central creative team on Department-wide values, missions, campaigns, and overall strategy for consistent department messaging and standards.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in art, graphics, visual design, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in art and design, preferably in a sports environment.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have experience and/or working knowledge of Adobe creative suite, print design, digital design and digital photography, within a design or advertising agency environment.
  • Demonstrated passion for great design, exhibiting stylistic breadth and attention to detail.
  • Experience executing ideas across diverse mediums.
  • Proven ability to deliver creative solutions within a branded system.
  • Strong abilities in all aspects of the creative process from concept to completion.
  • Capable of shifting between working independently and within a team structure.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • The University is looking for someone who is willing and excited to be part of the team that will spearhead the creative direction for a new era of Husky Football.
  • Experience in collegiate athletics is desirable.

  • REQUIREMENTS:

    Taxable benefits include tickets to UW intercollegiate home competitions. Non-local candidates may be eligible for a moving allowance.
