JOB SUMMARY:
This Cardiopulmonary & SETPAD Program Supervisor assists the Rehabilitation Services Manager in assuring appropriate day-to-day program operations and optimal patient care. This includes, but is not limited to, completing Cardiopulmonary and SET PAD patient admissions, plans of care, and discharges, providing safe and effective exercise, and education, interpreting telemetry and session reports, and the management of the Cardiopulmonary Rehab staff, quality improvement, staff education, and staff training. The Program Supervisor ensures the standard for clincial performance of the department and staff members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assesses patients before, during and after excersise. Conducts supervised exercise sessions for patients, and monitors participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
Proficient in cardiac rhythm analysis with subsequent knowledge in recognizing dysrhythmias and making appropriate referral to medical staff for timely intervention.
Ensures proper maintenance of exercise session reports and EMR for each patient.
Documents exercise sessions of patients in their records.
Coordinates patient education.
Creates and implements ITP for each patient.
Coordinates patient care with interdisciplinary staff, as needed. Assesses patients regularly, monitoring progress towards treatment goals, modifying goals, plan or program as indicated.
Reports any changes in the patient’s condition to the primary provider and/or Medical Director.
Works with the Medical Director in coordinating patient care, outcomes, and CMS regulations.
Facilitate timely and appropriate discharge planning.
Immediately notify the hospitalist if a patient’s condition deteriorates and requires hospitalization.
Initiates BLS and/or ACLS measures, as needed.
Always ensures the safety of patients.
Input appropriate charges.
Plans in-service training days for standard emergency medical procedures for all Cardiopulmonary & SET PAD Department team members.
Demonstrates the interpersonal and observational skills needed to identify appropriate psychosocial adaptation to illness and/or the presence of psychopathology.
Supports the Rehabilitation Services Manager with clinical expertise and advice by providing input into the maintenance and development of guidelines, procedures, and policies.
Coordinates Cardiopulmonary & SETPAD Rehab staffing.
Onboards, trains, and develops capable staff for the Cardiopulmonary & SET PAD Program.
Supervises Cardiopulmonary & SET PAD Rehab staff to complete daily office duties and procedure supplies to ensure proper Cardiopulmonary Rehab and SET PAD operations.
Completes Timecards for Cardiopulmonary staff.
Participates in the yearly employee evaluation process.
Notifies Rehabilitation Services Manager of any incidents regarding patients or staff.
Completes other tasks assigned by Rehabilitation Services Manager
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Offers treatment strategies to provide positive outcomes for patients in the Cardiopulmonary & SETPAD Rehab programs.
Effectively applies knowledge of exercise science and/or clinical expertise to a population with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and peripheral artery disease, along with other potential co-morbidities.
Uses the patient’s individual care plan to guide advancment of the exercise rate and/or duration.
Notifies Rehabilitation Services Manager of department needs.
Attends all staff meetings and relevant organization meetings unless prior excused.
Completes all annual related educational competencies
Maintains BLS and ACLS certification.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- Current RN licensure in the state of MT OR …
Certified ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a Cardiopulmonary Setting.
- Holds current BLS and ACLS certifications (able to acquire within 6 months of hire).
- Able to read, interpret, and analyze EKGs & abnormal arrhythmias on telemetry.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- If an Exercise Physiologist, a master’s degree in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology from an accredited institution is desirable.
- If RN, BSN is preferred
