Coordinator, Compliance and Investigations
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under direction of the associate superintendent of Employee Engagement and Labor Relations, the coordinator performs personnel duties related to the assessment of job skills and accommodation of employees and applicants with disabilities. Additionally, in collaboration with the associate and director, the coordinator leads and supports staff through the Title II processes and procedures. Work requires the analysis and assessment of unique circumstances and issues related to the evaluation of reasonable accommodation options for employees by considering job restructuring, alternative placement, rehabilitation and retraining. Works collaboratively with members of the OEELR to support the work of the office.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of public personnel administration including recruitment, interviewing, placement and counseling. Thorough knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), EEOC regulations, Workman's Compensation regulations, Family Medical Leave Act, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, knowledge of state and county retirement systems and MCPS policies and regulations. Ability to analyze objectively and to make recommendations on a variety of personnel actions. Ability to interpret guidelines and apply judgement to nonstandard situations. Familiarity with human resources databases (ATS, HRIS, HRO) to support compliance investigations. Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or personnel administration, special education, counseling, psychology or a related field. Master's degree desirable. Training or course work on ADA. Considerable experience in personnel administration and working with employees with disabilities. Demonstrated experience and skill in independently conducting employment related investigations inclusive of the ability to analyze relevant statistical information, interview parties and witnesses and write coherent reports. Other combinations of applicable education, training and experience, which provide the knowledge abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
