Field Technician II Job at Yuma Union High School District
Purpose Statement:
- The job of Field Technician II is done for the purpose/s of providing support for and maintenance and repair of computer systems, peripheral devices, printers, tablets, personal handheld devices, educational technology devices, projectors, etc.; mentoring Field Technician I personnel; diagnosing and repairing hardware and network failures; providing technical support to site personnel; and resolving school site operational issues. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: . This job reports to Technology Coordinator
Essential Functions:
- Assists with projects as required for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and programs following Governing Board policies.
- Attends scheduled meetings as required for the purpose of providing and/or gathering information relating to job functions.
- Collaborates with district and YETC personnel, vendors, etc. for the purpose of building trust, developing relationships, sharing information and fostering team work.
- Diagnosis equipment failures for the purpose of identifying needed repairs and/or ensuring equipment is in proper working order.
- Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. preventive maintenance, inventory, inspections, repair logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, conveying information and/or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
- Mentors Field Technician I personnel for the purpose of maximizing capabilities of assigned staff.
- Participates in workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of gathering information required to maintain certifications approved by YETC leadership.
- Repairs computers, peripherals, and electronic equipment (e.g. personal handheld devices, projectors, video cameras/recorders, electronic controllers, theater systems, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in a safe and functional operating condition.
- Supports personnel uses of technology for the purpose of providing information, guidance or referral regarding procedures and processes.
Other Functions:
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
- SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing diagnostic tools (i.e. oscilloscope, ohm meter, hand tools, soldering equipment, air compressor, cleaners, etc.); adhering to safety practices; and maintaining accurate records.
- KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintenance, and repair of microcomputers, printers, disk drives, monitors, and interface devises; operation of computer and electronic test equipment and tools; principles of digital electronics; operation of electronic test equipment; electricity and electronic computers; record keeping; safety measures; and basic inventory procedures.
- ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of jobrelated equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; establishing effective working relationships; displaying mechanical aptitude; communicating with technologically diverse groups; being attentive to detail; and working under time constraints.

- Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. Working Environment:
- This position reports the Manager of Technical Services.
- The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 0% sitting, 0% walking, and 0% standing. The job is performed in a clean atmosphere.
