POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Analytics and Business Manager will serve as a key support to the Director of finance and rev cycle, as well as to the Sr Administrative Director for Psychiatry. This role will help manage the analytics and financial activities that drive the department's clinical operations, finance, strategy, research, and personnel performance. This role will be responsible for supporting many aspects of the department including the data analytics, reporting, document preparation, and performance improvement projects. In addition, the incumbent will provide oversight in the management of the subcontracts and contracting process.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Data Analytics and Reporting
- Manage scheduled and ad hoc reporting needs of the Department
- Develop data collection tools, patient registries/lists and conducts data analysis and benchmarking
- Trend and report data to ensure that performance measurement results in performance improvement
- Practice sound data stewardship and governance in managing Psychiatry-specific datasets
- Establish clear data definitions, metric standards, and explanations of internal and external reporting structures
- Teach staff and faculty how to pull data via stored reports and other pull-based reporting systems such as Epic Workbench Reporting
- Mentor staff and faculty on data literacy, reporting fundamentals, and software-specific skills
- Execute and manage the completion of large reconciliation tasks and analytical projects
- Lead and execute complex, data-related, analytical projects to drive business decisions and efficiencies by connecting metrics to underlying operational understanding
- Compile data and reporting structures into presentation formats utilizing solid visual design principles and understanding
- Present these data sets and reporting structures clearly and effectively to peers and leadership
- Utilizes a variety of data sources including but not limited to Epic Workbench Reports, Business Objects, SAP, Internal Data Sources, Online Data Portals, and Data Cubes accessible by Excel
Financial
- Prepare monthly reports for the faculty compensation plan
- Maintain detailed records for all individual changes and circumstances governing a faculty's time and effort to ensure detailed and accurate accounting and a clear historic record of all decisions and changes
- Maintain organized data analysis so that compensation plan methodologies and analyses are easy to replicate year after year and can be referenced for historic information.
- In coordination with the Sr Administrative Director and Director of Finance, prepare the annual comp plan refresh summaries for each faculty member
- Enter monthly funding changes in SAP and keeps detailed records of all entries and outstanding payroll issues
- Enter hours for per diem and locum non-psychiatry clinical staff for payment through Paychex
- Performs special financial analyses as required
- Manages payroll for Boston University faculty, staff, and student employees; monitoring monthly payroll distribution, assuring that all personnel are paid correct amounts with proper account distribution.
- Work with BU and BMC personnel, payroll, and research administration to make necessary changes and reconciliation's related to payroll.
- Responsible for the design of the data infrastructure and reporting for the new Labor Productivity Management System (LPMS), with strict attention to volume counting logic and payroll hours
- Responsible for data collection and technical resources for activities related to volume analysis, productivity measures, and business decisions with a strict focus on data integrity and auditing of new and existing logic (i.e. conversion into SQL)
- Provide ongoing productivity analyses and develop/implement process improvement workflows to maximize revenue and efficiencies
- Support the Director of Finance in the development of budgets for BUMG, BUSM, and BMC
- Provide back-up and coverage for the Director of Finance as needed
- Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Administration preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience with 2 years in a health care setting (will consider equivalent combination of formal education and experience)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
