FOUNDRY QUALITY ASSURANCE OPERATOR Job at De Pere Foundry, Inc
- Understand and comply with all Safety rules and guidelines.
- Understand and comply with all company policies as outlined in employee handbook.
- Ability to work in all foundry operations including melt, metal processing, pouring, ram, core production, molding, shakeout, sand reclamation and preparation.
- Learn all aspects of the foundry melt department. Ensure correct preparation of the cupola to achieve proper start-up. Refractory / repair / reline of cupola and or ladles.
- Ability to learn & understand various sand properties to produce good sand cores.
- Ability to identify, weigh and mix various alloys to obtain different metal strengths. Work with daily production schedule to layout alloys needed in proper order.
- Ability to time and record pouring of castings.
- Help setup melt system to get ready to operate each day.
- Ability to complete and understand training in each area of the foundry operation.
- Must follow foundry work instructions and procedures to comply with De Pere Foundry’s quality system. Monitor and maintain air quality.
- Must follow detailed job specific instructions to make sure castings are produced in the most efficient manner and to meet customer specifications.
- Embrace and utilize new technology and techniques to improve quality and lower costs in the foundry operation.
- Work closely with finishing, pattern shop, maintenance and office personnel to increase communication, improve quality and lower costs within foundry operations.
- Must be willing to operate mobile equipment and cranes to complete job tasks as assigned.
- Continuously strive for improvement for self through continued training.
- Should be willing to acquire a general knowledge in all areas of the foundry operation.
Requirements High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Experience in heavy industrial preferred.
- Prior metal casting experience preferred, but not required.
- High attention to detail.
- Good math skills
- Experience with foundry cupola melt system a plus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 75#
- Must be able to handle and operate various hand and power tools to prepare molds, cores and melt area according to the job sheet instructions.
- Frequent standing, bending, squatting and climbing of ladders.
- Prior experience with forklifts and using overhead and jib cranes.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
