Summary*
This role is responsible for assisting the Department Supervisor with scheduling work assignments, job set-ups and normal productivity of the Mill Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
Receive written and/or oral instructions from the Department Supervisor
Assign work duties to employees within the Mill Department
Assist in training, instructing and directing employees as necessary in the performance of their job duties
Set up and operate machinery
Fill out basic production, inventory and time reports
Follow up as necessary to ensure that the work is being performed at a satisfactory level
Observe and follow all standard safety rules and regulations according to company policy
Assist in periodic inventories as required
Be flexible to perform other duties as required by the Department Supervisor
Direct others in set-ups, handling procedures of materials and clearing or setting up work areas
Advanced knowledge of company computer systems including E-drawings/Solid Model
Handle minor team conflict or questions from team members, but when an issue reaches an escalated point, the Mill Lead is expected to bring the item to the attention of the Department Supervisor
Be a subject matter expert for Mill processes and procedures within their designated area and train new team members on those processes and procedures
Responsible for monitoring machine/equipment maintenance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure functionality of machine/equipment and acceptable quality parts are being produced
Responsible for reporting any machine/equipment malfunctions immediately so repairs can be handled in a timely manner
Motivate and encourage Mill team members to be successful in their positions
Perform visual and dimensional quality checks
Clearly communicate with the Mill Supervisor and Production Manager
Keep Department Supervisor and Plant Manager updated on any issues or items going in to the Mill area
Have a positive attitude and help create a culture of safety
Assist with general housekeeping tasks within work area to ensure it is neat, orderly and free from safety hazards
Assist with 5S projects as needed
Other duties may be assigned at any time

Education and/or Experience*
Previous production experience required
High school diploma or GED or equivalent required, with some college or trade school preferred
Good communication skills and the ability to teach employees new tasks
Intermediate computer skills with the ability to work within multiple screen and learn new programs
