Our Corbion Algae Ingredients team has an opportunity in our Analytical Chemistry group. In this role, you will support Corbion's research and development efforts. The successful candidate will be involved in the analysis of compounds of interest by HPLC, GC, GC/MS, LC/MS, DSC, and other methods. In addition to routine sample processing, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, maintaining analytical instruments and their operation, method development for analyses, and critical interpretation of data.

Responsibilities:

• Analysis of test articles by HPLC, GC, GC/MS, LC/MS, DSC, and other methods, including routine sample processing and use of robotics, and critical interpretation and evaluation of analytical data
• Maintenance of analytical instruments
• Development of new methods, as required, to support programs
• Mentor junior group members
• Maintain an accurate notebook, write SOP’s and reports, and present work at meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Applicants will possess either a BS/MS degree in chemistry or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience • Demonstrated proficiency with HPLC is required
• Experience with GC, including method development and hardware troubleshooting, strongly desired
• Excellent wet chemistry/bench skills • Advanced knowledge of and experience with a wide range of scientific instrumentation and ancillary equipment
• Experience with method development and working in 96-well format, including robotics, is preferred
• Strong computer skills (hardware, Excel, instrumentation software, Microsoft Windows-based operating systems)

o Familiarization with OpenLab Chemstation, EZChrom, CDS, and Lab Solutions, strongly desired

o Experience with VBA is a plus

• Previous experiences working with triglyceride oils is highly desirable
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills and the ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced, high through-put R & D environment are essential
• Highly collaborative, self-motivated, team-oriented individual
