The American School for the Deaf (ASD) is the oldest permanent school for the deaf, founded in 1817 by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and Laurent Clerc. SCOPE OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Finance & Operations, the Senior Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and clerical support to the Finance Department and will serve as a resource for general information for all departments within the Operations team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Serve as primary point of contact for the Finance Department. Maintains a welcoming and professional environment for ASD staff as well as all external visitors.
  • Coordinates meetings and events on behalf of Director
  • Prepares and disseminates reports as required
  • Responsible for filing, scanning, and tracking of contracts
  • Processes purchase orders
  • Aides Finance office with annual Liability Insurance renewal.
  • Generates correspondence as requested by Director and department supervisors
  • Assists Finance department with daily deposits and petty cash.
  • Participates in and assists with in special projects as directed
  • Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills, highly detail oriented and consistent follow-through on assignments
  • Requires ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Discretion, tact, and high regard for confidentiality required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, with at least 1-3 years’ experience in an office setting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Working knowledge of American Sign Language preferred, or a willingness to learn.
