PH011023-virtual: Temporary/Full-Time Data Privacy Attorney. IMMEDIATE NEED.

100% virtual, with preference for East Coast candidates AND you MUST HAVE the ability to also work hours that accommodate Western European communications.

Serve on a dynamic privacy team with a focus on United States privacy laws, regulations and compliance working directly for our client's Data Protection Officer (DPO) and closely with its Senior Counsel – Technology and Data Privacy.
- Provide direct support and counsel to business stakeholders with respect to all US federal and state privacy matters.
- Provide counsel to business stakeholders on data transfers between the US and Europe under the GDPR.
- Provide counsel and advice related to the Company’s privacy compliance program.
- Provide advice on privacy and security incidents, including response to data breaches.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with our client's DPO to support the planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to a comprehensive global privacy plan;
- Advise on customer and vendor contract negotiations related to privacy issues and find solutions and strategies to limit/mitigate/remediate legal and business privacy risks and negotiate Data Processing Agreements and Standard Contractual Clauses with vendors and partners;
- Develop, deliver, and oversee privacy training and awareness;
- Participate in the drafting of policies and procedures relating to data privacy and the governance of personal data and compliance with applicable requirements;
- Participate in the development of an automated process around privacy and cybersecurity using the OneTrust or other applicable tool;
- Advise, in coordination with the DPO and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), on notification and other obligations in connection with security and privacy incidents and incident response programs;
- Work with DPO and the CISO on investigating and resolving privacy and security incidents and complaints;
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable privacy laws and accreditation standards;
- Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable and emerging global data privacy and security laws such as HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR and other U.S./international privacy laws;
- Assist the relevant business teams with consumer requests under the CCPA and other requests from individuals under other US privacy laws, AND;
- Assist with the development and conducting of privacy impact assessments to comply with VCDPA.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Accredited Law School
- Minimum 5+ years of legal experience
- Current admission to any state bar, with no disciplinary history in any jurisdiction
- Continuing Legal Education
- Relevant legal experience
- Privacy certifications (CIPP/US): ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED.

It is anticipated that this will be an 'open-ended position," with a duration of 3 months, possibly more, as needs require. This is an IMMEDIATE NEED and requires a candidate who can step in and start working ASAP.
