Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a Civil or Environmental Engineer to join our Drinking Water practice. The candidate will work closely with the Pacific Northwest team and a national bench of drinking water experts to deliver water facility planning, treatment and water quality studies, bench- and pilot-scale testing, and design and construction of treatment facilities. Detailed Description:

  • Help drinking water utilities achieve regulatory compliance with pressing issues, such as EPA’s newly proposed PFAS Rule and the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions
  • Work closely with project managers and other team members to execute water projects.
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water treatment systems, pumping systems, and piping systems.
  • Develop understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements for Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
  • Assist with feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, conceptual and detailed design development for water improvement projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of written reports, presentations, and other technical documentation to describe analyses and recommendations.
  • Assist with water system planning and evaluating model results for planning and design projects.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through construction office engineering support
  • Conduct field work as necessary for various projects.
  • Perform data collection, analysis, and documentation.
  • Assistance and participation in client and internal meetings.
  • Opportunity to attend and present at technical conferences to grow professionally

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Chemical/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field required
  • EIT preferred; plan to obtain PE
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts
  • Good technical writing and communication skills
  • Self-starter, results-oriented, and ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Ability to work both independently and on large, coordinated teams
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Project, Bluebeam) preferred
  • Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required
  • Good work and professional ethic essential
  • Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B: $61,000-$82,000
